Fox Distribution

The Red Fox is the most widely distributed carnivore in the world, and its population is alive and well here in Westchester County. Small mammals provide the fox with most of its diet, primarily feeding on rabbits, rodents, squirrels, and bird eggs. Fox are den animals that breed with the same companion for life, caring for their young together.

Symptoms

Foxes are generally non-intrusive and are only near humans if forced to build their den nearby, such as under a porch. Other signs of a fox on the property may include holes dug under buildings or fencing to gain entry.

Damages and Concerns

Red Foxes carry several diseases that are transferrable to either human or pet, including rabies, distemper, and mange. Concerns related to property damage may occur as the fox seeks shelter or to build a den.

Removal and Exclusions

New York law prohibits the killing of foxes unless the fox has proven to be destructive, i.e. “injuring private property”. However, with CHAOS Wildlife Control, you can be assured that every step is taken to capture and relocate the animal with minimal loss of life.
